Identity Verification & KYC

We are required to verify your identity before you can lend. Verification is completed once, through our verification partner, Didit (https://didit.me), and takes a few minutes: an email code, a photo of your identity document (a passport is recommended), and a selfie. Businesses complete a Know Your Business check instead, including identification of any individual holding 25% or more of the business.

Verification is a legal requirement for preventing financial crime. Your documents are handled by Didit under its own terms, which are linked at the point you begin.

Who can be verified. Verification applies the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing rules that Kasu and its partners are bound by. You will not pass verification, and cannot lend, if you are resident in or a national of a country subject to comprehensive sanctions, or in a jurisdiction Kasu does not serve; if you appear on a sanctions or watch list; or if your identity cannot be established from the documents you provide. Politically exposed persons, and people connected to them, are not excluded as such but are subject to additional checks and may be declined. The verification partner's screen states which countries it accepts before you begin. The same rules are applied separately by our payments partner if you add funds by bank transfer, and its list of accepted countries may differ.

One further check applies if you add funds by bank transfer. That service is provided by a separate payments partner, which is required to verify you in its own right, so you will be asked to complete a second, shorter verification the first time you use it. The Adding funds to your Digital Wallet page explains what to expect. If instead you fund your Digital Wallet with stablecoins you already hold, for example from a wallet such as MetaMask, this second verification is not required.
